Who we are

This website, https://nolanmaren.com, is the official website of the author Nolan Maren (“we,” “us”). This policy explains what information the site collects, why, and what choices you have. We have tried to keep it short and accurate, and it describes only the tools this site actually uses.

What we collect, and why

Newsletter. If you sign up for the newsletter, we store the name (optional) and email address you enter, the date of your subscription, the date you confirmed it, and the IP address used, as a record of your consent. We use this information only to send the newsletter. Signup uses double opt-in: nothing is sent until you click the confirmation link in the first email. Subscriber data is stored in this website’s database by the free Newsletter plugin and is not sold, rented, or shared with any marketing service.

Contact form. If you send a message through the contact form, your name, email address, subject, and message are emailed to the author so we can reply. The free WPForms Lite plugin does not save form entries in the website database.

Security logs. To protect the site from break-in attempts, our security plugin (Loginizer) records the IP address of failed login attempts to the site’s administration area. These logs are not used for any other purpose.

Server logs. Like all websites, our web host automatically records basic technical information about visits (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) in server logs used for security and troubleshooting.

What we don’t do

• No advertising or tracking cookies.
• No third-party analytics services.
• No selling or sharing of personal information.
• No fonts, videos, or social media widgets loaded from other companies’ servers. The site’s fonts are hosted on our own server.

Cookies

Visitors who simply read the site do not receive tracking cookies. WordPress sets cookies only for people who log in to manage the site. If you comment on a post (comments are currently turned off), WordPress may offer to remember your name and email in a cookie on your own device.

Links to Amazon and other sites

Our book pages link to Amazon, where our books are sold, and to our social media profiles. When you follow those links, you are on another company’s website, and its own privacy policy applies. We do not receive any personal information about you from Amazon. We do not use affiliate tracking links.

Email delivery

Newsletter and contact-form emails are sent through this website’s mail system and our web host. Like any email, messages pass through the email providers that deliver them.

How long we keep information

Newsletter subscriber data is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Contact messages are kept in the author’s email for as long as needed to respond and follow up. Website backups, which include the database, are made with the Backuply plugin, stored on our hosting account, and replaced over time.

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link at the bottom of every email. You can also ask us to tell you what information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, by emailing contact@nolanmaren.com or writing to us through the contact page. Depending on where you live, including California and the European Union, you may have additional rights under local law, and we will honor them.

Children

This site is intended for adult readers and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site handles personal information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
